White leaf on paspalum

March, 2009, Sea Isle Supreme Paspalum. Regional air temperature is illustrated in the inset. Although chlorine in the recycled water was considered to be a possible cause, there was no pattern of distribution that would suggest an irrigation related issue. At this point, the most likely cause of bleaching is white leaf caused by a phytoplasma. This disease has been observed on bermudagrass, bentgrass, and poa. This photo was submitted to the American Phytopathological Society (APS) Turfgrass Diseaease Working Group by Dr. Phil Harmon, University of Florida. The photo was taken by Fred Fulford, Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, The Sanctuary Golf Club on Sanibel Island, Florida.
