The soil physical and chemical properties vary by depth. This soils sample was taken to a 10 cm (4 inch) depth and was divided at the 5 cm (2 inch depth), resulting in two samples. One is the 0 to 5 cm (0 to 2 inch) depth, and the other is the 5 to 10 cm (2 to 4 inch) depth. By checking some soil samples by depth, it is possible to get a better understanding of soil nutrient dynamics.
