Pyricularia = grey leaf spot, Dreschlera = leaf spot and crown rot, Curvularia = leaf spot and crown rot. Fungicides are essential for maintenance of playable ryegrass during the summer. If clumpy ryegrass is OK for 90 - 120 days during the summer, fungicides are not needed. Just overseed in the fall when disease threats are lower to produce uniform coverage for the fall, winter and spring.
