Model C soil auger
Using a soil auger sampling tool for fairways. To sample a depth of 4 inches, screw the auger into the soil so that the top shoulder on the auger bit is even with the auger sleeve inside the bucket. Fairway soils are frequently compacted and difficult or impossible to sample using a standard soil probe. We use the Oakfield Model C soil auger to overcome compaction problems to allow collection of a representative sample. The Oakfield Apparatus Model C 1.25 inch diameter soil auger with step saver bucket kit is the ideal tool for difficult to sample soils.
