The needle nematode, Longidorus, is frequently associated with turf roots, but only rarely causes significant damage. See, however, this photo of rare, but severe damage on poa roots caused by the ecto-parasitic needle nematode. The needle-like stylet, seen in this photo, is used to pierce plant tissue.
