Frost on a new irrigation trench

The straight line of frost above the sprinler leading to the rough is right over a trench that was dug a few years ago when this sprinkler was moved. The soil water content of the soil in the trench is expected to be lower than the surrounding soil, thus allowing frost to form in this patter. The fairway is korai (Zoysia matrella) and the rough in the background is noshiba (Zoysia japonica). Photo by Andrew McDaniel.
