Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka is at an elevation of 1,860 meters (6,100 feet). Even though it is near the equator, the temperatures are relatively cool-because of the high elevation. This gives a cool-season GP that is above 50% throughout the year. Despite the GP and temperatures being suitable for cool-season grass, the golf course and lawn and sports turf at this location is primarily warm-season.
