Grasses use nutrients as they grow. Here are three easy ways to estimate the quantities of nutrients harvested by the grass.
Option 1: estimate based on N rate
Grass can only grow when it has N. No N means no growth. Therefore, the amount of N supplied as fertilizer, and the N from mineralization and N from irrigation if these quantities are substantial, sets an upper limit on the amount the grass can grow.
