Rolling and microdochium patch
Jason Haines, Superintendent, Pender Harbour Golf Club, started a rolling experiment to determine the impact of rolling on moss colonization. In the process, the practice green where the rolling study was established was attacked by microdochium patch caused by Microdochium nivale (aka pink snow mold, fusarium patch). The results suggest that rolling twice per day might suppress microdochium patch and more rolling improves suppression. Jason is not suggesting multiple rolling, he is trying to simulate traffic and rolling on moss infestation. The microdochium patch observation is serendipitous. The observation is interesting.
