Rapid blight hits Coachella Valley
The first diagnosis of rapid blight (Labyrinthula terrestris) in the Coachella Valley of California occurred in March, 2013 on Poa trivialis that was overseeded on bermudagrass greens. Soil salts were moderate at 2.7 dS/m, but soil sodium was high, at 190 ppm, which is above the
110 ppm threshold we see for this disease. Photo courtesy of Craig Shafer, Simplot Partners, Palm Desert, CA.
