Potassium content in sand

There's a broad range of potassium levels in root zone sand, as demonstrated by Dr. Doug Soldat, of the University of Wisconsin, who provided this photo. The slightly pink color associated with the 2.2% sand is due to the presence of K feldspar, and may explain why some golf courses never seem to have potassium deficient soils.
