Iron manganese and take-all patch

Soil test results from a location where ferrous sulfate had been used for more than 5 years for suppression of dollar spot (1:2 soil:water for pH, Mehlich-3 extraction for Fe and Mn). According to the superintendent, the result was an increase in take-all patch. Take-all patch disappeared after ferrous sulfate applications were terminated. Ferrous sulfate heptahydrate was applied at rates as high as 8 oz/1000 sq ft (2 g/m^2 or 225 g/1000 sq ft) on a 7 - 10 day interval during the growing season for a total of 15 - 20 applications. The soil tests do not reveal a trend in Fe, Mn or manganese availability index (MnAi). The soil is calcareous.
