Application a 1% solution of liquid dishwashing soap will irritate thatch-dwelling insects such as black cutworms, sod webworms and black turfgrass ataenius adults. Here, the cutworm larvae are just beginning to poke their heads above the turf surface, a few minutes after application of 2 gallons of the 1% soap solution to a yard square area of turf.
