In follow up testing on the solubility of gypsum vs. calcium sulfate anhydrite soil amendments (see this video), we estimated the level of soluble calcium for four different products at 30 minutes after addition to water, and at 18 days after addition to water. Note that at 30 minutes, there was 6 to 7 times more soluble calcium in gypsum products than anhydrite products. At 18 days after addition of water, the anhydrite products had partially solubilized, but still had dramatically less calcium in solution than gypsum products. Letters (a through d) are used to indicate the results of statistical analysis (Fisher's protected LSD, p<0.05). For each time point, values associated with the same letter are not significantly different.
