Microscopic view of bentgrass foliage that produced the red pigment anthocyanin in response to cool temperatures. This results in plants with a red to purple coloration. The effect was noticed only on a small proportion of bentgrass plants, suggesting that only some clonal segregants of A4 displayed this type of cold sensitivity.
