Caribbean Golf Course Superintendents

On August 27th, 2011, Dr. Stowell had the privilege of speaking on the topic of water quality and turfgrass management for the Caribbean golf course superintendents in Cancun, Mexico. The invitation was extended by a former PACE Turf member Arturo Ledserma and Jose de Jesus Briones who together organized the meeting. Rafael Barajas, CGCS,  Hacienda Country Club and current President of the California GCSA assisted Dr. Stowell with communications and coordination for travel and requesting soil and water test results used to assist evaluation of local conditions. The meeting was held at the Hotel Beach Palace and was well attended with more than 50 participants. Accommodations and conference facilities were first-rate and extremely comfortable. Simultaneous translation from english to spanish and spanish to english was smooth and effective for both spanish and english speaking attendants. There appears to be a lot of potential for interaction between the US and Latin American golf course superintendents. Handouts prepared for the presentation can be found at the links below.
