MVCC Triple Aerification of Kikuyu Fairways

The process includes:
1.  Planet Air- slicing knives that go down 1 1/2 inches deep and cut the kikuyugrass plants in half.  The planet air improves air and water infiltration which stimulates microbial breakdown of thatch and doubles the number of individual kikuyu plants creating a denser fairway surface.
2.  Liqui-Ject-  5/8 inch solid tines that penetrate 3 inches deep and inject fertilizer into the soil.  This process encourages deep rooting of the kikuyu and opens the soil for better air and water exchange for the kikuyu.
3.  Deep Tine-  3/4 inch by 7 inches deep aerification.  This process helps condition the clay soil by opening up deep pockets for better air and water exchange.  This will enable the fairways to be deep watered to encourage deep rooting while keeping the surface drier and more playable for the members.

The goal is to do this monthly for the first season then reduce the frequency next season.  Heavy clay soils with very low infiltration rates.
